Youth & Student Contract Staff

Youth & Student Contract Staff

By Tara Flippo

Every winter/spring we are hard at work recruiting new talent in your Youth & Student contract pool for the warm weather start of our season. We strive to bring in 5-8 new contract challenge course facilitators annually. This year was a windfall with 10 new folks coming aboard. Our newest staff include graduate students, school guidance counselors, challenge course managers, freelance challenge course facilitators, a consultant, and a small business owner.

We are very proud of our diverse and talented contract pool. The Browne Center Youth and Student Facilitators are among the best in New England. They have significant experience with youth and student populations from recreation, education, & therapeutic settings. Each staff member has a minimum of 50 days leading on a challenge course prior to being hired and attend regularly scheduled technical skills verification. Additionally, each facilitator holds current certification in First Aid and CPR.

In addition to their challenge course credentials, many of our staff have graduate level experience and backgrounds in social work/therapy, classroom teaching, special education or other relevant fields. Most facilitators hold a higher education degree in Outdoor Education or a related field.

Over the years we have shared profiles of different facilitators to showcase the breadth and depth of who is working here. What we all have in common is a passion of student directed learning, allowing young people to bring their best selves to the challenges and joy that our activities can bring forth, and helping us all grow in the discovery of who we each are in the presence of intentional reflection.
