The University of New Hampshire is celebrating it’s 150th anniversary! Two events will happen Friday, September 30th at The Browne Center in support of this celebration.

Through the lens of the life and legacy of Evelyn Browne
From 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., The Browne Center
This program will showcase Evelyn Browne’s legacy and highlight the many ways UNH has facilitated human/environment interactions through healthy outdoor activities during its 150 years, in the spirit of Evelyn. During the program the Browne Center will host an open house during which participants can experience the UNH Challenge course firsthand.
UNH Outdoor Education: Annual TOED Talk
(Putting the OE into Ted Talks since 2010)
From 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., The Browne Center
TOED talks invites the following presenters:
- Randy Pierce ’88, President of 20/20 Vision Quest and accomplished athlete to talk about hiking blind with his guide dog.
- Alyssa Ballestero ’10, UNH OE alum, will discuss her recent experience successfully surviving the television reality show Naked and Afraid XL in Africa.
- Pam McPhee and Jen Stanchfield will discuss the outdoor legacy of UNH professor Evelyn Browne, namesake of the Browne Center.

September Highlights:
Youth & Student Programs has had a busy September!
We served almost 900 participants including 2 staff development programs. The majority of our programming is here on property at our beautifully maintained ropes courses, however we occasionally do offsite programs.
This month, our programs included working with middle school students, youth at risk, adults in a neuro-science internship, college orientation, high school orientation for international students, 10th graders on empathy, 5th graders on community building, university honors students, 8th grade leaders, UNH academic classes from the Rec & Management and Social Work depts., college student leaders, a high school chorus, and training educators on our new social and emotional learning curriculum.
