Service Learning

Service Learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities.  Research shows that service learning has many positive impacts including personal student development, interpersonal development, increased sense of social responsibility and citizenship skills.

At the Browne Center, we use service learning as a program activity and as a means to help defray costs for our clients. We can also incorporate a service learning project at your home site.

"Thank you for coming to our school and working with our middle school students. It was an incredible learning experience; we had students emerge as leaders that didn’t know they had it in them. We had a great day." - Public School Teacher
