Collaboration Hard at Work

Collaboration hard at work; UNH Thompson School’s Matt Chagnon and his Forestry students prune, top, and fell trees at The Browne Center.

Pruning of trees on our challenge courses as well as management of forest encroaching upon conservation land and infrastructure were two main focus points of this project.  Felled wood will be used for supplemental heating and slash was mulched and spread around the grounds of our tree-based challenge courses to provide a nutritional boost as well as cushioning for roots and people.

This fantastic symbiotic relationship helps The Browne Center keep its forest healthy and gives the Thompson School Forest Technology Students a semester long experience based learning lab!

The Thompson School is designed to create career-related experience under realistic conditions through classroom, labs and working enterprises.  See their website for more information about their programs: www.thompsonschool.unh.edu
